How to Determine Your Screen Resolution

If you are into using wallpapers on your desktop you will need to know your screen resolution. Most wallpaper artists make their wallpapers in varying sizes so you can request the one that will best fit your screen. It's very easy to determine and to change your screen resolution. These directions will be for operating systems ME and XP but if you can find your Control Panel on your system, you can follow the tutorial from there.

Here's how you do it:

In XP, go to Start and it should pull up a menu where you can locate your Control Panel.

In ME go to Start and find Settings, then Control Panel.

In the Control Panel, locate the Display icon. Double click on it to open it. Here, both XP and ME have different tabs across the top, but the one you are looking for is the last one, the Settings tab. Click on that and you will see something like this:

Under Screen area you will see what size your screen is. If you move that lever back and forth, it will change the settings. You can play with this lever to see what happens but if you choose to change your screen resolution settings, it will require a reboot so make sure all your other programs are closed before you click "apply".
